Walmart India strives to improve the quality of life for employees, customers and communities through financial contributions, in-kind donations and volunteerism. The company supports initiatives focused on enhancing opportunities in skills training, environment sustainability, women empowerment and community development.

Women's Economic Empowerment

Through training and sourcing, Walmart India’s Women's Economic Empowerment Initiative is providing sustainable employment opportunities and significantly expanding economic opportunities for women across India. Through a combination of our local programs and support from the Walmart Foundation, we are positioned to impact more than 75,000 women in India.

In 2011, Walmart launched the global Women’s Economic Empowerment program to contribute to improving the lives of underserved women around the world. Walmart is taking a leadership role in providing opportunity for these women as it promotes economic growth and better lives for their families. In India, our training initiative focuses on women in agriculture, factories and the retail sector.

Diversity in the Supply Chain: If you are a woman-owned business, please write to us with your product details.

Walmart India is committed to double sourcing from woman-owned businesses (WOBs). We tailor strategies by market and work with a variety of organizations to identify woman-owned businesses. We establish baselines, assess the types of WOBs in our supplier base, understand the common challenges for buyers and suppliers, and design solutions that bridge these challenges while keeping the business goals and local culture in mind.

Walmart India is working to increase the volume of sourcing from WOBs in order to strengthen the diversity in its supply chain.

Associate Volunteerism

As a responsible corporate citizen, we strive to improve the quality of life for Associates, Customers and Communities through financial contributions, in-kind donations and volunteerism. In this regard, Walmart has put in place an associate volunteering program named ‘Store of the Community’ (SOTC). Key objective of this program is to support the company’s mission to engage associates with the community through volunteerism.
